Aeroponic Cloning Machines and Why You Should Use Them

Aeroponic cloning machines aka cloners are the quickest way for getting clones rooted fast! These electric cloning machines provide a misting effect, aerating water continously to give clones a perfect climate for roots to emerge.

What is an Aeroponic Cloning Machine?

First let's describe what aeroponic means: Aeroponics is a plant cultivation method used for growing plants by suspended root systems. Instead of being placed in a medium, roots are suspended in air and misted with drinking water or nutrient solution.

Aeroponic Cloning Machines are buckets or boxes loaded with plugs to stick fresh plant cuttings into. The plants stay above the machine, while the bottom of the stalk penetrates the plug into the machine. Inside a cloning machine is a water resivoir and a pump. The water is either bubbled or misted onto the stalks. After a few days of this, roots shall start developing and clones can be transplanted.

Taking clones

Cloning a plant is usually a form of asexual propagation that many plants simulate naturally in the real world to survive their species. Take sweet potatoes for example: these plants are almost always grown from snipped off runner vines (clones) rather than their rare flowers. In nature, various animals or other environmental circumstances.

Clones are taken not just of cannabis plants, but also from a variety of plants you may already know and have around your home, but the process stays basically the same.

How to clone a plant

  • Select a green healthy new growth shoot and go down it about 3-4 nodes. This will be your slice point. You want to have a few nodes, or new growth points, for the clone’s fresh leaves to emerge from.
  • Using a sharp razor blade or additional sharp edge, make a 45 degree slice, severing the selected shoot from the branch. Make sure to do this clean as possible.
  • Some growers like to help to make slits in the side of the shoot, where roots will emerge from. If you choose to do that method, make sure you don’t slit too deep!
  • Dip severed area of clone in vitamin B12 supplemented rooting solution put clone in appropriate moderate for forming roots such as Jiffy Cubes, rockwool, perlite, aeroponic cloning machine plugs.

Additional info about aeroponic cloning machines

  • The best part about using a good aeroponic cloning machine is that opposed to standard methods of cloning it takes less time.
  • Instead of having to wait over a week for roots to emerge, growers are transplanting strongly rooted clones in a shorter amount of time!
  • This method works faster than standard methods of cloning, but requires a small amount of non-stop electricity during the time the aeroponic cloning machine is definitely utilized.
  • On top of a poly-plastic molded box lies airy neoprene plugs that will hold freshly cut clones at their bases. The tops of the clones are above the box, outside, while the bottom level of the clones, where roots are intended to grow from, and inside the box. Inside the package lies a drinking water reservoir, misters and a pump.
  • Mist is sprayed constantly within the aeroponic cloning machine until roots have emerged from clones at a healthy level for transplanting.

Tl;dr

With an aeroponic cloning machine, the plant cloning process can be done in 5-10 days. Conventional plant cloning methods generally take 10 or more days from fresh cut clone to transplant.
Aero cloners possess a high success rate. There’s a reason for the high rate of success when cloning vegetation. Old methods of cloning require continuous supervision and humidity monitoring, whereas aeroponic cloning machines are simply fill, plug in and forget.
